Turkey continues to perform big-scale infrastructure investments. Crucial projects such as 3rd airport and Çanakkale Bridge are planned to be opened in the following period. Moreover, integrated health premises and hospital projects that are started to be opened in some cities are realized with public-private partnership model. According to the report of GYODER, Turkey, with a stock of 18 million residences, will require 7.5 million new residences by the year 2023. In the following 11 years, at least 450.000 additional residences should be constructed each year away from urban renewal projects in order to fulfill residence requirements. 16.45 EDUCATION: DRIVING FORCE OF DEVELOPMENT

The educational system is one of the most discussed subjects of recent years. The focus of the discussions is on the issues and deficiencies in the system. According to the last PISA test conducted by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Turkey ranked 50th among 72 countries. Its performance has regressed compared to previous test results. These results indicate an occlusion in the system.
